Islamabad, April 30 2025 — Pakistan has issued a dire warning, alleging they have “credible intelligence” suggesting India plans a military strike within 36 hours. This claim made by Pakistan’s Foreign Office has escalated tensions between both nuclear-armed rivals, raising international alarm at potential conflict in South Asia.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Foreign Office spokesperson in Islamabad stated at a press briefing: “We have received reliable and actionable intelligence suggesting India plans on initiating limited military actions against Pakistan in 36 hours or sooner.”

Pakistan has voiced its concerns to key international partners and called for restraint on both sides. “We urge the international community, particularly the UN and countries with influence in the region, to act immediately to avoid any miscalculation that might lead to wider conflict,” Baloch stated.

Pakistani officials have suggested the intelligence may have something to do with recent cross-border tensions in Kashmir.

India has not responded officially to Pakistan’s allegations, though sources in New Delhi have dismissed similar past warnings as being alarmist and politically motivated. Indian officials insist their military actions are solely in response to specific threats such as terrorism.

The allegations come against a background of increasing military readiness on both sides of the border, with reports citing increased troop movement along the Line of Control (LoC), which separates Indian- and Pakistani-administered parts of Kashmir.

Security experts warn that any misstep or miscommunication could quickly escalate into a dangerous conflict, given both nations possess nuclear arsenals. Even limited strikes carry grave risks given their potential nuclear capabilities,” explained South Asia expert Dr. Arvind Sharma.

United Nations and US have yet to make formal statements, though diplomatic sources indicate backchannel communications have already started in order to de-escalate the situation.

Regional tensions continue to build, leaving citizens on both sides of the border on edge, hoping that diplomacy will prevail over aggression.
