Inditex continued to deliver strong momentum, with first-half sales rising 7.6% to €19.8 billion (£17 billion). At constant currency rates, sales increased 9.2% in the six months ended 31 July, with the ZARA owner noting that its spring/summer collections had been “very well received” by customers.

The group, which also owns Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius and Oysho, said growth came through both stores and online.

Europe, excluding Spain, accounted for 51.5% of first-half sales, up from 50.7% a year earlier.

The business also noted that its autumn/winter collections received a positive response from customers, with a 9% increase in store and online sales at constant exchange rates between 1 August and 7 September, compared to the same period in 2025.

Its latest trading follows a slower opening quarter, when sales increased 5.8% to €8.7 billion (£7.5 billion), although sales then picked up in the period between 1 May and 1 June

The group’s EBITDA in the first half increased by 7.8% to €5.5 billion (£4.7 billion), with its net income increasing 6.8% to reach €3 billion (£2.6 billion).

Gross profit rose 8.3% to €11.6 billion (£10 billion), while gross margin widened by 40 basis points to 58.7%.

Inditex said inventory rose 9.3% year-on-year as of 31 July 2026, which it attributed to robust operating performance and described as “high quality”.

Óscar García Maceiras, CEO of Inditex, said: “These excellent results highlight the extraordinary capabilities of our teams. In a highly complex global environment, they have succeeded in delivering every day to our customers all around the world the products and fashion experience that they demand.”

Inditex steps up investment

Across its 51 markets, the group expects gross retail space to grow by about 5% this year, ending July with 5,444 stores.

In the UK, Pull&Bear and Stradivarius made their Yorkshire debuts at Meadowhall in May, opening neighbouring stores alongside sister brands ZARA and Bershka.

The group is also expanding its value fashion brand Lefties in the UK. Its first British store opened at Liverpool ONE in late August, with a store Lakeside in West Thurrock opening in early October and Gateshead’s Metrocentre following in November.

In 2026, Inditex plans to invest around €2.3 billion (£2 billion) in its stores, online operations, technology and centralised logistics.

The group reported that it had now implemented its new soft-tag RFID technology across all of its stores. The technology, which replaces rigid security hard-tags, smooths customer journeys by supporting automated check-outs, online order collection points and smart fitting room reservations.

ZARA has been using this technology as a basis for its omnichannel features introduced earlier this year at its refurbished Bond Street flagship, which also allows for real-time stock visibility through ZARA’s app.
