On Wednesday afternoon in Mastung district of Balochistan, three Army majors and soldiers were tragically killed in a terrorist attack, marking another fatal strike against security personnel in Pakistan’s volatile southwest region.

ISPR, the military’s media arm, reported that an attack occurred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted against suspected militants near Mastung. Launched based on confirmed intelligence of terrorist presence in the mountainous region near Mastung, the IBO met stiff resistance from militants which resulted in a heavy exchange of fire between security forces and militants.

ISPR confirmed the martyrdom of Major Umer Farooq, who led an operation from its inception. Lance Naik Faridullah and Sepoy Imran Khan also perished during this operation despite extreme risks; their statement highlighted their unwavering courage and unwavering commitment to duty despite imminent danger.

Major Umer Farooq and his men sacrificed themselves heroically in an attempt to eliminate terrorist threats and secure the region, according to ISPR. They leave behind an outstanding legacy of bravery and sacrifice that they will remember throughout history.

Security forces claim that at least four terrorists were killed during the operation, while a search and clearance operation is continuing in the surrounding area to identify any remaining threats.
