Multiple explosions were reported late Monday evening in Tehran, sending shockwaves through the Iranian capital as fear spread among residents. The sudden blasts – of unknown source – coincided with a dramatic statement by former U.S. President Donald Trump who issued an urgent call on social media for everyone in Tehran to evacuate immediately.

Iranian state media reported several loud booms were heard across central and northern districts of Tehran shortly before 11:00 p.m. local time, prompting emergency services to deploy emergency responders in multiple locations; authorities have yet to ascertain whether these explosions were caused by missile strikes, internal sabotage or industrial accidents.

Eyewitnesses have described scenes of confusion and fear as people rushed out into the streets amid sirens and air raid alerts blaring in the background. Residents in Vanak area reported hearing at least three explosions within 15 minutes, prompting windows to shake and everyone flee their homes quickly. “Windows shook, and everybody rushed from their houses” according to Reza Mahmoudi of Vanak area.

As Iranian authorities attempted to assess the situation, Donald Trump issued a dramatic call on Truth Social to all American and allied citizens in Tehran: “All Americans and Allies who have not left Tehran already must immediately evacuate. Something major is occurring. Leave immediately!” His post raised speculation over whether Trump had prior intelligence regarding the blasts; neither the Pentagon or State Department commented officially on his statements.

White House officials speaking on condition of anonymity stated they were monitoring the situation closely but could not ascertain whether American assets or interests were currently threatened in the region. “We are aware of reports of explosions in Tehran and are actively working to verify details,” according to a spokesperson from U.S. National Security Council.

Iranian military officials have not provided an official response, though several pro-government analysts on Iranian television speculated that this incident might have been part of an external cyber or drone attack targeting sensitive infrastructure. Others advised against spreading unverified claims which may increase fear among citizens or exacerbate geopolitical tensions.

Timing of this incident was particularly significant, occurring amidst intensified military confrontation between Iran and Israel with numerous airspace violations and retaliatory strikes recently by both parties. Regional observers warn of potential escalated clashes in the Middle East if further escalated actions take place between Iran and Israel.

Meanwhile, embassies in Tehran are reported to be on high alert, with both German and French missions issuing precautionary advisories advising their nationals to remain indoors until more information becomes available. No casualties have yet been confirmed.

As of early Tuesday morning, internet services appeared to have been interrupted in parts of Tehran while Iranian media coverage remained limited. Both international observers and Iranian analysts are working feverishly to ascertain the cause of explosions as everyone awaits further developments.
